Sí Se Puede Pillow

Inspired by the famous World War II poster of the iconic Rosie the Riveter (representing the the women who worked in factories and shipyards during the war), “Sí Se Puede” was created to represent more of our culture. I spent many years around the amazing women of La Mujer Obrera, a local independent organization dedicated to creating communities defined by women built in 1981 by women who were both garment workers and Chicana activists. La Mujer Obrera took the image of my painting all the way to the White House during a hunger strike in protest of the violence and poverty on our Southwest border region.

It has also been seen in women’s marches all over including being photo documented on buzzfeed.com for the women’s march in Los Angeles, CA. It continues to be one of my most popular print sales to date.
