Artistic depiction of a woman with blue hair and flowers, surrounded by nature elements, in a decorative frame.

Winter Frost

Acrylic and Glitter on Canvas 2023 Professionally Framed $7,000 Prefer to Keep Full Collection Together Full Collection Price Negotiable Represented here is.' Winter, frosted over and in a period of hibernation. Of slowing down, a time for reflection. I would consider this piece to be the beginnings in the order of this series as you can see the caterpillar’s life is just beginning. As with life, it needs its time to grow and has its time of transformation ahead. For now, this is its beginning stages of the cycle of life.

Pachamama

PACHAMAMA Acrylic on Canvas 2023 Professionally Framed $7,000 Prefer to Keep Full Collection Together Full Collection Price Negotiable Here we have my representation of the ever so beautiful Pachamama. Mother Earth. Spring in all its glory and the 3rd of my 4 part series honoring all the seasons. She represents the life cycles, planting, harvesting, fertility… life in form of nature as a whole. I imagine her looking this way when we honor her. Happy, beautiful, thriving, and as old as time.

Summer Bloom

Acrylic on Canvas 2025 Professionally Framed $7,000 Prefer to Keep Full Collection Together Full Collection Price Negotiable The final piece of my 4 part series is representing Summer, in its full blooming and fertile glory. Full of color, full of life, warmth and happiness. Butterflies are emerging, bees are buzzing and transferring pollen, and flowers are blooming and being fertilized. Life is good.

Autumn Harvest

AUTUMN HARVEST Acrylic on Canvas 2021 Professionally Framed $7,000 Prefer to Keep Full Collection Together Full Collection Price Negotiable Autumn Harvest was the first to be painted in this 4 part series. I sort of started backwards in this series but she was painted during the months of Autumn which also happens to run through my birthday (at times landing on the first day of Autumn). She represents exactly what you see here… a time to reap the rewards of hard work and harvest the fruits of your labor. A time of completion.

Santa Maria Sabina

Acrylic and Gold Leaf on Canvas 2022 Professionally Framed $4,500 Maria Sabina, a well known Mazatec healer/curandera in Mexico, dedicated her life to the use of psilocybin mushrooms to heal and connect to and communicate with God. She was born into a family full of shamans. Her legacy remains through her poetry, traditions, and those she healed. There is much more to her story to be told but she has been a personal favorite of mine that I learned of long ago on my own journey/path.

Duality - Nepantlaltzin

Acrylic & Gold Leaf on Canvas 2022 Professionally Framed $5,000 Sometime in 2022, I felt a great need to dive deeper into who I am according to the Aztec calendar and reached out to an elder I know who has probably the most knowledge of anyone I know in our local community. He gave me a short but detailed explanation which truly resonated with me and made so much sense! This painting represents part of what he told me. I’m not going to give a detailed explanation of what was said to me as that is for me but what I will say is this painting is a representation of the earth and the cosmos albeit mostly the cosmos…. the skin of the jaguar in Aztec culture representing the night sky. I had some strange things happen to me while doing this painting which was proof to me there was a higher power at play here. This painting also was finished in exactly 2 months to the day which was not planned but makes sense with omecoatl (twin, two headed serpent). Symbolism plays a huge role in my life! And thank you Carlos for taking the time to help me get to know myself better.

Flor

FLOR Acrylic on Canvas 2024 Professionally Framed $2,800 If you have been following my work for sometime, you know that I have done many Dia de los Muertos style paintings over the years. It had, however, been a long time since I had sat to do one. With Dia de los Muertos approaching in 2024, I had some extra time and picked up a canvas to do a piece I could have ready before the day came. This is how Flor manifested into a reality

Tochitl

Acrylic on Canvas 2025 Professionally Framed $3,500 Do you know the story of the rabbit on the moon? In Japanese folklore, it is said that a moon god decided to visit earth disguised as a beggar... On this fateful night, a fox, monkey, and rabbit happened to come across the beggar, and he asked them for some food. The monkey brought fruit plucked from a nearby tree and offered it to the beggar. The fox went to the stream and caught some fish and offered it to the beggar. The rabbit realized that he had nothing to offer the beggar. The only thing it knew how to do was gather grass, and humans did not eat that. Confused and unhappy, he had an idea. Humans love to eat meat. Without hesitation, he asked the beggar to build a fire. When that was done, the rabbit jumped into the flames, hoping to serve as a meal for the hungry beggar. Astounded by the rabbit’s sacrifice, the beggar changed back into his true form and pulled the creature out of the fire. As a reward, the Moon god carried the rabbit back home with him. The selfless rabbit lives on the moon to this day. If you look at a full moon, you can make out an outline of the rabbit pounding mochi with a mortar and pestle in its eternal home. Rabbits traditionally symbolize abundance and fertility. So the rabbit here sits on abundant and fertile ground.

MayaHuel

Acrylic on Canvas 2023 Professionally Framed $2,500 Mayahuel - known as “the woman of the 400 breasts” is the Aztec goddess of maguey (Agave) and fertility. With Mayahuel is the spirit of Tochtli (Rabbit), another symbol of fertility. She is a symbol of passion and transformation as an elixir of a culture created around magic and love.

Hummingbird Medicine

Acrylic on Canvas 2022 Professionally Framed $2,000 In 2021, I had the absolute pleasure of befriending a mama hummingbird who chose to have her nest in close and direct view from my sunroom/studio at home. Day after day I would walk into the sunroom and would see her come down and literally hover in front of the window as I would water my plants or get into painting something and I would always put my hand to the window to greet her. I documented the whole process of her eggs turning into babies and she would let me get surprisingly close to photograph and video (I never touched anything). I was sad when winter came and they all left so in December of 2021 I started this hummingbird painting but never was able to get back into it. A time again came when I noticed hummingbirds returning which prompted me to pick up this painting again and again I started noticing a hummingbird hovering at my window when I would walk into my sunroom. The medicine they give us is about joy and happiness. It’s a reminder to not let life pass you and truly enjoy every moment. There is a certain magic all animals possess and I truly feel a deep rooted connection to all nature and animals. I hope to pass that magic/medicine into you so that you may tread this earth lightly, dance hard, and understand the natural world and how it guides us in everything we do. You just have to pay attention.

Bear Medicine

Acrylic on Canvas 2025 Professionally Framed $2,000 As I’ve grown older, I feel I can relate a lot to bear medicine. Their medicine embodies strength, courage, introspection, and healing. While I can be out and social, I do find myself needing myself to be solitary and having introspection, working with my own inner and higher self. Bears hibernation can be seen as self introspection and a time of healing. Bear shows us the importance of taking time away from the rapid movements of the world and quite ourselves to seek inner knowledge

Spirit Guides

Acrylic on Canvas 2022 Professionally Framed $5,500 Spirit Guides is a peek into an intuitive mind and all the different ways we are guided in life. I tend to use a lot of symbolism in my work and the fish here represent the emotional, watery world. This is a tricky one because your emotions do intuitively speak to you in allowing us to recognize the way we feel about a person or a situation. But staying here too long can literally bring you under a current and drown you with heavy emotion; depression. It’s not easy to trust oneself but oh so important when navigating through life. You just have to break through all the layers represented here before achieving some sort of Universal consciousness. Dive in! I promise you, it’s worth it.

Life Cycles

Acrylic on Canvas 2017 Professionally Framed $4,000 I have always had an affinity for moths, even more so than butterflies, strangely enough. The Luna moth was always something I wanted to paint as it represents the gift of intuition and heightened awareness, psychic perception. Their cycles are short (typically 1 week) and are most often seen in the evening, attracted to the moon and to light. Represented with her are the moon cycles, short to us, taking place over a period of 29.5 days. This is an endless cycle in life… an opportunity for death and rebirth. We all go through proverbial deaths and rebirths over and over again in life… these are our Lyfe Cycles.

The Keeper

Acrylic on Canvas 2023 Professionally Framed $3,500 This is my representation of keeping and preserving our culture. She is The Keeper, a spirit who keeps and holds traditions and culture, who preserves and hides it when needed and thrives when it is being honored. The keeper keeps our ancestors alive and honored from below the earth up into the cosmos. Quetzalcoatl is also represented here… the feathered serpent, the connection between earth and sky, a creator god. Because I believe there is much more in the cosmos that has aided civilization to great advancements beyond comprehension, I am also honoring that as I feel it is all intertwined. This painting is dedicated to my ancestors as well as those who have taken the time to educate me during ceremonies, temazcales, medicine meetings, etc. Indigenous ways are what I resonate with. It’s what feels normal. It’s what’s home.

Untitled Acrylic on Longhorn Skull 2010 $1,500 Many years ago, prior to renaming my store to “Dreadful Things”, my first Brick and Mortar was a little store called “La Adelita” located on Gateway East, just on the other side of Basset Place. This particular skull came to be during a devastating time I went through when my store’s ceiling caved in from a water leak and completely flooded out and destroyed so much I had worked so hard for. My business was to close for a whole month while repairs were being made and right before I left, I grabbed this longhorn skull to paint at home to help me cope with the situation at hand. While it’s a reminder of the difficult times I went through, it’s also a reminder of how incredibly strong and resilient I can be under arduous times. To me this piece represents moving forward no matter what life throws at you.

Dreaming

Acrylic on Canvas 2017 Professionally Framed $1,800 In 2017, I was invited to be a part of The Wet Paint Project… a side project of artists painting live that coincided along with Hell City Tattoo Convention in Columbus, OH. We were given a stage and had 3 days to paint something live and spectators could come and check us out throughout the weekend and watch our pieces develop. It was an incredible experience for me and I met some incredible artists that also became friends. This painting is one of those pieces that started off as a simple sketch I did the night before and just flowed into its own being while it was created along the way. I ended up completing this over a 2 day period.

UNDER THE TAHITIAN MOON

UNDER THE TAHITIAN MOON Acrylic on Watercolor Paper 2017 Professionally Framed $2,500 In 2017 I was asked to be a part of a tattoo themed art exhibit called “We Got Your Back”. Artists were given this watercolor sheet with what you would associate a back piece style tattoo already outlined for you. I had a general concept for this but I guess you can say it changed and flowed the way it wanted to as I was painting it. The title for this piece is “Under the Tahitian Moon” because I was listening to the band “Porno for Pyros” during the 2 day duration of the painting. The painting title is one of their song titles. A simple ode to them.

Metamorphosis

Acrylic on Canvas 2017 Professionally Framed $3,000 Metamorphosis manifested from a really difficult transition in my life. This is one of my more vulnerable pieces, being painted with literal tears. Painting has always been a form of healing for me and this is no exception. A part of my life put to death but with death always comes rebirth, and after a time of painful solitude comes growth and a metamorphosis.

AND LEAD US NOT INTO TEMPTATION

Acrylic and Gold Leaf on Canvas 2024 Professionally Framed $2,000 Born with innocence, we go through life battling temptations in many different ways. This painting shows “keeping the faith” to remain on a good path in life no matter what temptations may be lingering on our shoulders. This is the fight to stay pure as we choose our destiny in life.

Mucho Mucho Amor

Acrylic on Wood Panel 2024 Professionally Framed $2,500 Walter Mercado was my earliest introduction to the world of astrology and a life I am now submerged into as an adult. As a child I can remember watching him on daytime Mexican television when either my mother or grandmother would be watching their telenovelas. His segment would come on and you would always wait for your sign to be called and your horoscope to be told and he always had the most fantastic outfits! Fit for a fantastic person, he really was larger than life. He always preached love and positivity, something we as a world seem to lack in role models these days. Later as an adult, I found out more about his life and legacy and how tragic and similar his later life paralleled to Bob Ross. He passed away in 2019 but I wanted to pay homage to him because I believe we really need more people in the world who fill it with love, as love is the highest form of energy there is.

Supreme Being

Acrylic on Canvas 2018 Professionally Framed $1,800 This painting of Leeloo from the movie “The 5th Element” was created for an exhibit as part of the Plaza Classic Film festival called “We Are Not Things” put on by Ghostfox Toys which celebrated empowered female characters in film. In picking a female role, Leeloo, the Supreme Being, came to mind as she is someone who saves the Universe for all humanity. She IS the Supreme Being.

Tis Halloween

Acrylic on Canvas 2024 Professionally Framed $2,800 I’ve always had a love of all things vintage Halloween (and of course Halloween in general!). This painting is a simple ode to vintage Halloween with a twist of rubber hose art, a classic animation style popularized in the 1920s-30s.
